Tamilnadu State Supply and Marketing Society (TNSSMS) was formed in 2004 to explore and identify market for Self Help Group products and to undertake feasibility studies and provide consultancy in product promotion, pricing, standardization and quality control to the self help group
- Originally formed by DRD with the funding Support from SGSY was later transferred to TNCDW.
- The society was reconstituted in the year 2006 to undertake Tsunami rehabilitation work through externally funded projects.
- It become defunct over a period of time since no regular meeting was held and hence it was dissolved in 2013.
- With the same objective of providing handholding support to the Self Help Group, livelihood promotion activities , economic empowerment of the rural poor by enabling them various marketing forces, achieve economies of scale through forward and backward linkages – SSMS was formed as per G.O. MS.No.111, dated 19.11.2012
- As per the G.O. MS.No.41, dated 09.05.2013 assets and liabilities of TNWS handed over to the newly formed State Supply and Marketing Society.
OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY
- To monitor and coordinate the activities and facilitate networking among all DSMS [District Supply and Marketing Society].
- To promote marketing products of Self Help Groups in India or any other country.
- To administer unique Branding and Monogram for SHG products.
- To organize for procurement of raw materials for SHG.
- To conduct seminars and research on products promotion and marketing of SHG products.
- To organize opportunities to the members of SHG to visit CLGs/Activity clusters.
- To organize Regional, State and National level exhibitions to promote the sale of SHG products.
- To co-ordinate and arrange to supply SHG products to Government sectors on demand basis.
- To undertake any Government special projects with reference to promotion of SHG products.
- To create employment opportunity for SHG members.
- To maintain all shopping complexes and other infrastructure created for SHGs at State level.
- To do all activities to protect the interest of SHG members irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
- To accept the assistance offered by Government for development of women and utilize the services provided by the Government and the income generated through various means as per directions of the Government shall exclusively be utilized for the welfare of Self-Help Groups.
- To do all the activities without any profit motive and only with service motive especially in the interest of women community.
Activities of TNSSMS
Tamil Nadu State Supply and Marketing Society has taken following steps for increase the sale of SHG products
Amazon
- 69 products uploaded at Amazon portal from Kancheepuram, Chennai, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi district SHGs
- In this regards, proposed to create Warehouse come Permanent Outlet at our Annai Theresa Women Complex Ground floor.
India Post
- Regarding logistics support for SHG’s TNSSMS tied up with India post under BNPL(Book Now Pay Later) and Speed post.
- In this project, any SHG’s from Tamil Nadu may handed over products to their nearest post office for supplying anywhere in India.
- The above postal charges will be paid by TNSSMS and collect from SHG’s later.
GeM
- We are registering our SHG products in GeM Portal for supplying of office procurements.
- Presently 105 individuals from 32 SHG’s 25 districts has been registered.
- To increase the registration, training was given to DSMS Manager and Block Mission Managers at 30.07.2021
Mobile App and Website
- Tamil Nadu State Supply and Marketing Society has initiated to create our own platform for registering SHG Entrepreuners, Integrating all Kiosks, Billing, Real Time Monitoring and online sales with the support of HDFC Bank.
- After that we will start test operations at Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Tiruvallur at Second week of August 2021
